As the Space Coast Bass Finatics kicked off a new season twenty five returning teams plus two new additional teams showed up bright and early Sunday morning to give it their best on East Lake Tohopekaliga. The morning went as smooth as can be expected considering the limited parking and even more limited spots to tie off your boat launching from Ralph V. Chisholm Park. Despite facing the blistering heat and only having the occasional breeze twenty five teams still managed to bring in a limit with the remaining two teams falling just shy at four fish each bringing the total fish caught by the entire field that day to one hundred and thirty three thus breaking the existing club record for one day total fish caught. Great Job to everyone! Let's keep breaking those records.
The team of Karl Kearcher and Brian Davidson proved once again that they are a team to watch out for by bringing in a solid 19.63 pounds to the scale anchored by the Big Bass of the tournament weighing 6.87 pounds caught flipping by Brian Davidson. They reported that flipping and speedworms accounted for all of their bites. Congrats Guys!
Coming in not too far behind was the team of Raymond Taylor and Clyde Taylor weighing in at 16.23 pounds. Their bag included a healthy 5.86 pound stud helping them score second place and bring home a decent two hundred and seventy dollars. They also reported that speedworms did the trick when catching their limit.
Rounding off the top three was the solo Fred Reid proving that you don't always need that second person there with the dip net to place in the money. He reported that his bag weighing in at 13.41 pounds was acquired by throwing Junebug Flukes.
Fourth place went to the team of Rick Jenkins and Joe Jenkins who brought in a bag weighing 13.31. They reported that Senko's were all they needed in order to clinch their spot and bring home a pair of twenty five dollar gift cards so generously donated to us by Strike Zone of Melbourne who also donated a pair of ten dollar gift cards for the Small Creel Award which went to the team of Buddy Perry and Matt Griffin. On another note we had two returning teams send their club dues with other teams on Sunday bringing the season total number of registered teams to twenty nine leaving only one spot left for any latecomers whom wish to join. The next tournament will be at Lake Poinsett on October 25th and we will be launching out of the River Lakes Conservation Area Boat Ramp.
