The final tournament for SCBF this year was at Lake Washington Sunday the 31st and fifteen teams competed not only against each other but against low water levels, high mosquito count, and temperatures in the mid 90s. The cloud cover helped keep the temperature down somewhat but the fish did not cooperate like that had in past years as the weights were lower. The only big catches seem to have come from an abundance of mud fish and garfish which everyone had their fair.
Jimmy Blount and Jack Berry of Rockledge were the big winners posting an impressive 13.56 pound limit for first place. Staying in Lake Washington, fishing around the small grass beds which were still growing despite the constant spraying by over zealous weed control finatics accounted for their limit and included the big momma of the tournament weighing 6.13 pounds. Speed worms and sinkos proved to be the right choice for catching bass.
Bob Barnette and Tom Southwick were fishing for both the tournament win and a place in the upcoming club classic which made their second place finish that much more important. Their 12.56 pound limit was anchored by a nice 5.65 pound bass which narrowly missed out on big bass honors and points. They stayed in the lake and went up some very narrow and shallow canals but it paid off in a big way.
Third place goes to the most consistent team we had all year, Bill Groseclose and Fred Reid, who posted an impressive five bass limit in all eleven tournaments this year a feat that has only been done one other time in club history. Their 8.90 pounds limit came from Sawgrass Lake using a mini fluke and some top water.
The small creel award went to Don Hinman and Ken Winter who were rewarded with some cool sunglasses and a assortment of plastic baits which were generously donated by Bitters Bait and Tackle. Their continuous sponsorship of the club this year has been a big success and the club appreciates everything they have done.
There were no photos of the fish this tournament because we wanted to get them back in the lake as soon as possible but we have some photos of the club members enjoying the cold drinks and pizza that our President Dwayne Haga and his partner Dave Metzler supplied after the weigh-in. The club members then proceeded to plan the tournaments for next year and elect the new officers to keep the club operating smoothly. The results of the election of officers will be posted on line as soon as possible and are as follows:
President --- ----Dwayne Haga
Vice-President --Dave Metzler alternate Jackie Barber
