NAME, HISTORY AND PURPOSE
NAME
- THIS CLUB SHALL BE CALLED THE "SPACE COAST BASS FINATICS”.
HISTORY
- FOUNDED ON AUGUST 1, 1988.
- CLUB COLORS- THE CLUB COLORS ARE BLUE ON WHITE. OUR CAPS, SHIRTS AND JACKETS ARE WHITE WITH THE CLUB EMBLEM IN BLUE.
- CLUB EMBLEM- THE CLUB EMBLEM IS A LARGE MOUTH BASS AS THE CENTER WITH “SPACE COAST” OVER AND “BASS FINATICS” UNDER.
- THE CLUB WAS CALLED THE “LERA BASS CLUB” UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2012.
PURPOSE
- THIS CLUB WAS FORMED BY A GROUP OF LOCKHEED SPACE OPERATIONS (LSOC) EMPLOYEES AS A MEANS OF ENJOYING THE GREAT SPORT OF BASS FISHING.
- TO STIMULATE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF BASS FISHING AS A MAJOR SPORT.
- TO OFFER THE STATE CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT OUR ORGANIZED MORAL AND POLITICAL SUPPORT.
- TO IMPROVE OUR SKILLS AS BASS ANGLERS THROUGH A FELLOWSHIP OF FRIENDLY EXCHANGE OF BASS CATCHING TECHNIQUES AND IDEAS AND TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE THE LOVE FOR THIS RECREATION.
MEMBERSHIPS
NUMBER OF MEMBERS
- A MAXIMUM OF THIRTY (30) TEAMS IS ALLOWED.
REQUIREMENTS
- THIS CLUB IS A TEAM FISHING FORMAT; EACH TEAM CONSISTING OF TWO (2) PEOPLE.
- EACH TEAM MAY HAVE A MAXIMUM OF 3 ALTERNATE FISHING PARTNERS PER SEASON WHO DO NOT HAVE TO BE MEMBERS OF THE CLUB IF FISHING WITH A CLUB MEMBER.
- IF THE ALTERNATE PARTICIPATES IN MORE THAN TWO (2) TOURNAMENTS, HE OR SHE WILL BE REQUIRED TO JOIN THE CLUB. EXCEPTIONS MAY BE GRANTED BY THE CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD.
- CLUB MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PEOPLE.
- THE CUT-OFF FOR NEW MEMBERSHIP WILL BE MAY 31 OF EACH YEAR. NO NEW MEMBERS MAY JOIN AFTER THAT DATE UNLESS AN EXISTING TEAM SPLITS UP AND BOTH MEMBERS WISH TO CONTINUE TO FISH BUT WITH A NEW PARTNER WHO WILL NEED TO BECOME A MEMBER BEFORE FISHING A TOURNAMENT.
- MEMBERS WHO HAVE PARTICIPANTED IN A MINIMUM OF SIX(6) TOURNAMENTS IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO SIGN UP FOR MEMBERSHIP PRIOR TO THE FIRST TOURNAMENT THE FOLLOWING YEAR.
MEMBERSHIP DUES
- ANNUAL DUES SHALL BE TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00), PAYABLE AT THE FIRST TOURNAMENT EACH TEAM ENTERS AND ANNUALLY THEREAFTER FOR EACH MEMBER.
- THE PERSON WISHING TO BECOME A MEMBER OF SCBF MUST BE PRESENT TO PAY THEIR MEMBERSHIP DUES EITHER AT THE SEPTEMBER TOURNAMENT OR AT THE FIRST TOURNAMENT THEY ATTEND.
OFFICERS, ELECTIONS, VACANCIES, ELIGIBILITY AND MEETINGS
OFFICERS AND THEIR DUTIES
- PRESIDENT- PRESIDES OVER ALL MEETINGS AND DIRECTS ALL OFFICIAL BUSINESS. APPOINTS AND DIRECTS ALL COMMITTEE FUNCTIONS. PRESIDES OVER TOURNAMENT WEIGH-INS.
- VICE-PRESIDENT- PERFORMS BOAT AND LIVEWELL CHECKS AT RAMP, DISTRIBUTES BOAT NUMBER CHIPS AND MEASURES SHORT AND LONG FISH AT WEIGH-IN. PRESIDES OVER THE TOURNAMENT WEIGH-INS WHEN THE PRESIDENT IS NOT PRESENT. SERVES AS THE OFFICIAL TIMEKEEPER AND CHECK IN MONITOR.
- TREASURER- MAINTAINS ALL CLUB FINANCIAL RECORDS. RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COLLECTION AND DISBURSEMENT OF ALL CLUB MONEY, INCLUDING: ANNUAL DUES, TOURNAMENT FEES, TOURNAMENT PAY OUTS, TROPHIES AND ANY OTHER APPROVED CLUB EXPENSE. PRESENTS A CURRENT QUARTERLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT AT TOURNAMENT MEETING.
- SECRETARY- MAINTAINS RECORDS OF ALL CLUB MEETINGS. PUBLISH A MONTHLY STATEMENT THAT REFLECTS THE PREVIOUS TOURNAMENT STATS AND THE OVERALL STANDINGS FOR EACH TEAM. RECORDS ALL TOURNAMENT WEIGH-IN DATA BY TEAM, INCLUDING: WEIGHTS, POINTS, BIG BASS AND DECEASED FISH. PROCURES EXEMPTION PERMITS AND REPORTS RESULTS TO THE FWC. POSTS ALL PHOTOS TO CLUB WEBSITE.
ELECTIONS
- OFFICER NOMINATION BALLOTS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CLUB PRIOR TO THE JULY TOURNAMENT. TO ENCOURAGE NOMINATION OF CLUB MEMBERS THAT HAVEN'T SERVED AS OFFICER YET, A LIST OF ACTIVE CLUB MEMBERS AND THEIR OFFICER SERVICE HISTORY SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH THE BALLOT.
- THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS SHALL BE HELD ANNUALLY AT THE JULY MEETING.
- ELECTIONS SHALL BE BY A SIMPLE MAJORITY OF MEMBERS PRESENT.
- ELECTIONS SHALL BE HELD SEPARATELY IN ORDER AS LISTED IN SECTION 3A.
ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE
- EACH DUES PAYING MEMBER IS ENTITLED TO ONE (1) VOTE.
TERM OF OFFICE
- THE TERM OF OFFICE IS FOR ONE (1) YEAR, WHICH SHALL BEGIN SEPTEMBER 1ST AND END AUGUST 31ST OR UNTIL A SUCCESSOR ASSUMES OFFICE.
VACANCIES
- IF THE PRESIDENTS’ OFFICE BECOMES VACANT, THE VICE-PRESIDENT SHALL ASSUME THE UNEXPIRED PORTION OF THE PRESIDENTS’ TERM.
- IF ANY OF THE OTHER OFFICES ARE VACATED, NOMINATIONS SHALL BE ASKED FOR AND ELECTIONS HELD TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF THE INDIVIDUAL VACATING OFFICE.
ELIGIBILITY FOR HOLDING OFFICE
- TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR AN OFFICE, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF THE CLUB FOR ONE(1) YEAR.
MEETINGS
- MEETINGS WILL BE HELD AFTER EACH TOURNAMENT AFTER ALL BOATS HAVE WEIGHED-IN.
- SPECIAL MEETINGS CAN BE CALLED AND HELD AT A LOCATION DESIGNATED BY THE PRESIDENT.
METHOD OF AMENDING THE CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS
AMENDING THE CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS
- PROPOSALS TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS MAY BE PRESENTED IN WRITING FROM THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP AT ANY MONTHLY MEETING.
- THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS WILL BE VOTED ON IN SEPTEMBER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW TOURNAMENT YEAR OR IN MARCH AT A SPECIAL MEETING.
- TWO-THIRDS (2/3) MAJORITY VOTE OF THE MEMBERS PRESENT WILL BE REQUIRED TO CARRY ANY AMENDMENTS.
- SEPTEMBER CHANGES TO THE CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN WRITING AND WILL BE VOTED ON REQUIRING THE SAME TWO-THIRDS (2/3) MAJORITY VOTE OF MEMBERS PRESENT.
TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
PARTICIPANTS
- PARTICIPATION IN CLUB TOURNAMENTS IS OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE “SPACE COAST BASS FINATICS” AND THEIR ALTERNATES IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 2, MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES.
BOATS AND REQUIREMENTS
- ALL CONTESTANTS WILL LEAVE BY BOAT AND RETURN BY BOAT. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- ALL BOAT OWNERS MUST HAVE A CURRENT BOAT REGISTRATION. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- ALL FISHING MUST BE DONE FROM WITHIN BOATS. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- ALL FISH MUST BE LANDED BY CONTESTANTS FROM WITHIN THEIR BOAT. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- ALL BOATS MUST STAY IN THE WATER DURING TOURNAMENT HOURS. THERE WILL BE NO TRAILERING OF BOATS FROM ONE LOCATION TO ANOTHER OR WILL CONTESTANTS BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE BOAT TO BETTER THEIR BOAT POSITION DURING A SCHEDULED TOURNAMENT. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- EACH CONTESTANT MUST WEAR A FASTENED LIFE JACKET AND THE BOAT OPERATOR MUST HAVE A FUNCTIONING KILL SWITCH ATTACHED ANYTIME THE BOAT IS UP ON A PLANE. EACH CONTESTANT MUST HAVE A COAST GUARD APPROVED LIFE JACKET. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- ALL BOATS MUST BE OPERATED IN A SAFE AND COURTEOUS MANNER AT ALL TIMES. ALL BOATS WILL IDLE AWAY FROM THE RAMP AREA, NO PLANE WILL BE ALLOWED UNTIL SAFE WATER IS REACHED. PENALTY: 1ST OFFENSE—5 PTS., 2ND OFFENSE—10 PTS., 3RD OFFENSE—15 PTS., 4TH OFFENSE DISQUALIFICATION, 5TH OFFENSE—REMOVED FROM THE CLUB.
- ALL BOATS WHEN DRIFTING MUST MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 50 FEET FROM OTHER TOURNAMENT BOATS—USE COMMON SENSE AND COURTESY. PENALTY: 5 PTS.
- ALL BOATS MUST MAINTAIN A MINIMUM DISTANCE OF FIFTY (50) YARDS FROM ANY OTHER CLUB BOAT THAT WAS ANCHORED WITH THE TROLLING MOTOR UP WHEN SAID BOAT ARRIVED UNLESS INVITED BY THE ANCHORED BOAT. PENALTY: 5 PTS.
- ALL BOATS MUST HAVE COAST GUARD APPROVED RUNNING LIGHTS OPERATIONAL AND ON AT THE START (SAFE LIGHT) OF EACH TOURNAMENT DAY. LEAVING THE RAMP WITHOUT RUNNING LIGHTS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
- ALL BOAT PARTICIPATING IN A CLUB TOURNAMENT SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF $100,000 LIABILITY INSURANCE. PROOF OF INSURANCE POLICY SHALL BE PRESENTED TO THE CLUB SECRETARY PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION IN A TOURNAMENT.
- AIR BOATS OR FAN BOATS ARE PROHIBITED. MUD (DUCK) BOATS ARE ALLOWED AS LONG AS THEY HAVE A FUNCTIONAL LIVEWELL CAPABLE OF MAINTAINING A LIMIT OF BASS.
TYPES OF TACKLE AND RODS
- ONLY CASTING, SPINNING OR SPIN CASTING TACKLE MAY BE USED WITH A MAXIMUM ROD LENGTH OF EIGHT FEET (8’-0”).
- ONLY ARTIFICIAL LURES MAY BE USED. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION.
- NO LIVE BAIT MAY BE USED. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION.
- EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVE TWO RULES MAY BE MADE BY A TWO-THIRDS (2/3) MAJORITY VOTE OF MEMBERS PRESENT. VOTE MUST TAKE PLACE AT THE TIME OF THE FISHING SITE SELECTION.
- NO MORE THAN ONE (1) ROD PER PERSON MAY BE IN THE WATER AT ANY TIME. PENALTY: 5 PTS.
- JIGGING OR FLIPPING STICKS ARE ALLOWED WITH A MAXIMUM LENGTH OF EIGHT FEET (8’-0”).
- FLY RODS ALSO MAY BE USED AND HAVE NO MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM LENGTH.
FISH / LIMIT REQUIREMENTS
- ONLY LARGEMOUTH BASS MAY BE WEIGHED IN.
- NO FISH ARE ALLOWED IN ANY LIVE WELL BEFORE ANY TOURNAMENT. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION.
- BASS MUST BE A MINIMUM OF TWELVE INCHES (12”). BASS WILL BE MEASURED FROM TIP OF CLOSED MOUTH TO THE TIP OF TAIL ON CLUB’S MEASURING DEVICE (GOLDEN RULE).
- IF A SHORT FISH IS BROUGHT TO THE SCALES FOR WEIGH-IN, THE WEIGHT OF THE BIGGEST FISH SHALL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE TOTAL WEIGHT. NOTE: ALL MEASURING DEVICES SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR ACCURACY AGAINST THE CLUBS MEASURING DEVICES.
- EACH TEAM IS ENTITLED TO REQUEST A COURTESY MEASUREMENT USING THE CLUB'S OFFICIAL MEASURING DEVICE.
- A TEAM MUST CLEARLY EXPRESS INTENT TO PERFORM A COURTESY MEASUREMENT PRIOR TO PRESENTING THEIR FISH TO A CLUB OFFICER FOR WEIGH-IN.
- ALL COURTESY MEASUREMENTS ARE UNOFFICIAL AND THE DECISION TO PRESENT A MARGINAL FISH AND THE RISK ASSOCIATED WITH IT IS ENTIRELY ASSUMED BY THE PRESENTING TEAM.
- THE OFFICIAL DECISION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT A FISH MEETS THE MINIMUM REQUIRED LENGTH IS THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE CLUB OFFICER PERFORMING THE OFFICIAL MEASUREMENTS DURING THE WEIGH-IN.
- NO CLUB OFFICERS SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN THE COURTESY MEASUREMENTS OF ANY OTHER TEAM'S FISH.
- IT WILL BE PROHIBITED FOR ANY CONTESTANT TO GIVE OR OFFER FISH TO ANY OTHER BOAT IN THE TOURNAMENT. IT IS ALSO PROHIBITED FOR ANY CONTESTANT TO ACCEPT FISH NOT LEGALLY CAUGHT BY HIM/HER. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION.
- EVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE TO KEEP ALL FISH ALIVE IN A LIVE WELL.
- EVERY BOAT MUST HAVE A MEASURING DEVICE OF SOME KIND ON BOARD.
- ONE FISH OVER SIXTEEN INCHES (16”) IS ALLOWED IN THE LIVE WELL PER PERSON (2 PER BOAT WITH 2 PEOPLE). PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- IF MORE THAN FIVE (5) FISH ARE BROUGHT TO THE SCALES, THE OFFENDING TEAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- TEAMS MUST ADHERE TO FLORIDA STATE BAG LIMITS AND/OR THE EXEMPTION PERMIT REGULATIONS. A TEAM MAY EXCEED THE LIMIT TEMPORARILY AS LONG AS A FISH IS CULLED TO BRING THE TEAM WITHIN BAG LIMITS PRIOR TO MAKING ANOTHER CAST OR LEAVING THE SPOT WHERE THE FISH WAS CAUGHT. CULLING AT THE RAMP WILL BE PROHIBITED FOR ANY REASON. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
TOURNAMENT HOURS
- FISHING HOURS WILL BE SAFE LIGHT UNTIL 3:00 P.M. FOR ALL REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENTS EXCEPT JUNE AND JULY WHICH WILL BE 2:00 P.M. TO AVOID THE EXCESSIVE SUMMER HEAT AND HELP WITH THE ADDED STRESS ON THE FISH. NIGHT/EVENING TOURNAMENTS TBD BY A CLUB VOTE.
- WEIGH-INS MAY START PRIOR TO 3:00 P.M. AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CLUB OFFICERS IN THE EVENT OF IMPENDING INCLEMENT WEATHER OR OTHER SAFETY RELATED CONCERNS.
- AT LEAST 3 CLUB OFFICERS MUST BE PRESENT IN ORDER FOR ANY FISH TO BE WEIGHED.
- THE SCALES WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL ALL PARTICIPATING TEAMS THAT ARRIVE AT THE WEIGH-IN SITE PRIOR TO 15 MINUTES PAST THE DESIGNATED END OF THE TOURNAMENT HAVE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO WEIGH THEIR FISH.
TOURNAMENT SITE SELECTIONS
- TOURNAMENT SITE SELECTIONS WILL BE MADE BY THE CLUB OFFICERS FROM THE MOST SELECTED SITES SUBMITTED BY CLUB MEMBERS WITH THE TOP VOTE GETTING SITE FISHED TWICE FOR A TOTAL OF ELEVEN (11).
- THE SCHEDULE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE SELECTED SITES AT THE SEPTEMBER TOURNAMENT.
- IF THE TOURNAMENT SITE HAS A KNOWN WEATHER OR FISHING PROBLEM, A NEW TOURNAMENT SITE MAY BE SELECTED BY A MAJORITY VOTE OF MEMBERS PRESENT.
- THE CLASSIC SITE IS CHOSEN BY A SPECIAL MEETING OF CLASSIC QUALIFYING CLUB MEMBERS AFTER THE WEIGH-IN AT THE FINAL REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENT.
- ELIGIBLE CLUB MEMBERS MAY NOMINATE SITES.
- A SIMPLE MAJORITY VOTE OF CLASSIC QUALIFYING MEMBERS DETERMINES THE CLASSIC SITE FROM THE NOMINEES.
- CLASSIC QUALIFIERS MAY PRESENT ANY SITE SPECIFIC ALTERATIONS OR LIMITATIONS ON THE LAKE SELECTED AT THIS TIME AND CAN BE APPROVED BY A SIMPLE MAJORITY VOTE OF THE QUALIFIERS PRESENT.
- THE LAKE SELECTED FOR THE CLASSIC WILL BE OFF-LIMITS TO ALL PARTICIPANTS FROM THE PRIOR SUNDAY AT SUNSET TO SAFE LIGHT ON SUNDAY THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT.
LATE PENALTY
- CONTESTANTS WHO FAIL TO APPEAR AT WEIGH-IN SITE ON TIME WILL BE PENALIZED FOUR (4) OUNCES FOR EACH MINUTE LATE UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 15 MINUTES. TEAMS OVER 15 MINUTES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
- CONTESTANTS MAY BE TRANSPORTED TO THE WEIGH-IN SITE IN ANOTHER CONTESTANTS BOAT, HOWEVER, ONE CONTESTANT FROM THE DISABLED BOAT MUST ACCOMPANY THE FISH TO THE WEIGH-IN SITE.
- ANY TEAM WHICH HELPS A DISABLED TEAM AND ARRIVES LATE FOR WEIGH-IN WILL INCUR THE SAME PENALTY AS STATED IN ITEM 1 UNLESS AN UNINVOLVED CLUB MEMBER IS NOTIFIED OF THE SITUATION BY PHONE, TEXT, VOICE-MAIL, VERBAL, OR OTHER MEANS PRIOR TO THE START OF THE WEIGH-IN. WHEN PRIOR NOTIFICATION IS GIVEN, THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS TO ITEM 1 ARE GRANTED:
- HELPING TEAMS ARE EXEMPT FROM THE PER MINUTE LATE PENALTY, BUT THE DISABLED TEAM IS SUBJECT TO THE PER MINUTE PENALTY OUTLINED IN ITEM 1.
- THE DISABLED AND HELPING TEAMS ARE GRANTED AN ADDITIONAL 5 MINUTES BEFORE THEY ARE BOTH DISQUALIFIED.
STARTING TOURNAMENTS
- TOURNAMENTS WILL BE STARTED BY ONE OF THE CLUB OFFICERS AS OR AN APPOINTED TEAM MEMBER AT AN AGREED SAFELIGHT TIME.
- NO BOAT WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE LAUNCH AREA BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION.
- ALL BOATS WILL HAVE A LIVE WELL INSPECTION PERFORMED BY A CLUB OFFICIAL PRIOR TO THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION.
- ANY BOAT ARRIVING AT THE TOURNAMENT LATE DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, MUST FIND ANOTHER CLUB MEMBER ON THE LAKE TO PERFORM A LIVE WELL CHECK BEFORE LATE MEMBERS BEGIN FISHING OR THEY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND WILL RECEIVE NO POINTS FOR THAT TOURNAMENT.
- TEAMS WILL BE GIVEN A NUMBERED CLUB CHIP AT BOAT CHECK WHICH IS TO BE RETURNED AT WEIGH-IN. THIS CHIP WILL DESIGNATE THE STARTING BOAT NUMBER DURING SINGLE BOAT STARTS. IF THE CHIP IS NOT RETURNED AT WEIGH-IN A PENALTY OF 5 PTS. WILL BE ASSESSED.
SCORING
- SCORING WILL BE DETERMINED BY TOTAL POUNDS AND OUNCES OR BY DIGITAL SCALE TO THE HUNDREDTH OF A POUND.
- WINNERS WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE TOTAL WEIGHT CAUGHT DURING THE TOURNAMENT (5 FISH LIMIT).
- POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FROM FIRST THROUGH LAST, WITH POINTS ALSO AWARDED TO BOATS THAT CAUGHT NO FISH, BUT DID REGISTER FOR THE TOURNAMENT. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR POINTS, A TEAM OR MEMBER OF THE TEAM MUST START THE TOURNAMENT
TIES
- THE BIGGEST BASS FROM THE TYING TEAMS WILL BE USED TO BREAK TIES.
TOURNAMENT FEES
- COST TO ENTER PER TOURNAMENT IS FORTY DOLLARS ($40.00) PER BOAT.
- COST TO ENTER BIG BASS POT IS TEN DOLLARS ($10.00) PER BOAT.
- NOTE: TOURNAMENT FEES TO BE PAID IN CASH. MEMBERSHIP DUES MAY BE CASH OR CHECK.
WEIGH-IN PROCEDURES AND REGULATIONS
- TEAM MEMBERS WILL BE WEIGHED IN ORDER OF ARRIVAL AT SCALES OR BY CHIP NUMBER AS SELECTED BY CLUB OFFICER.
- FISH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE CLUB OFFICERS FOR MEASUREMENT OF QUESTIONABLE FISH AND WEIGHING. REGARDLESS OF SIZE, THE SMALLEST FISH FROM EACH TEAM WILL BE MEASURED. THE LARGEST FISH WILL BE WEIGHED FOR THE TIE BREAKER. ALL FISH APPROACHING 22" WILL BE MEASURED, WEIGHED, AND RECORDED FOR FWC REPORT.
- ALL BASS BROUGHT TO THE DOCK MUST BE WEIGHED AND RECORDED. THE LARGEST AND THE SMALLEST BASS MUST BE CHECKED AND THE TOTAL WEIGHT RECORDED FOR EVERY TEAM. PENALTY: 5 PTS
- MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO RELEASE ALL LIVE FISH. PENALTY: 5 PTS.
- TEAMS WILL BE PENALIZED EIGHT (8) OUNCES (0.50 POUNDS) FOR EACH DEAD FISH BROUGHT TO THE WEIGH-IN SCALES. A FISH WILL BE CONSIDERED DEAD IF IT IS NOT “GILLING” WHEN PRESENTED TO THE CLUB OFFICER FOR WEIGHING. THIS WILL BE VERIFIED BY A CLUB MEMBER APPOINTED BY THE CLUB OFFICERS AS REQUIRED.
- ALL FISH TO BE TRANSPORTED TO AND FROM THE SCALES IN WATER-FILLED BAGS. PENALTY: 10 PTS
- ALL PROTESTS MUST BE MADE TO A CLUB OFFICER NO LATER THAN 10 MINUTES AFTER WEIGH-IN IS COMPLETE. THE RESULTING DECISIONS BY CLUB OFFICERS WILL BE FINAL.
OFF LIMITS
- AN OFF LIMITS (NO FISHING) PERIOD WILL BE OBSERVED FOR NIGHT TOURNAMENTS ONLY AND WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE BEGINNING AT SAFE LIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT. THOSE TEAMS WHO WISH TO LAUNCH AT A DIFFERENT RAMP AND MOTOR TO THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH SITE MAY DO SO.
SPORTSMANSHIP
- ALL CLUB MEMBERS MUST CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN A COURTEOUS AND CALM MANNER AT ALL TIMES. ALL DISPUTES MUST BE HANDLED CIVILLY AND RESPECTFULLY. PENALTY (SEASON): 1ST OFFENSE: 5 POINTS, 2ND OFFENSE: REMOVAL FROM THE CLUB AND FORFEITURE OF TOURNAMENT WINNINGS.
CODE OF CONDUCT
- ALL MEMBERS AND ALTERNATES PARTICIPATING IN SCBF EVENTS SHALL BE REQUIRED TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER THAT DEMONSTRATES INTEGRITY, HONOR, AND RESPECT AT ALL TIMES DURING TOURNAMENT HOURS AND AT ALL CLUB EVENTS, TOWARD FELLOW MEMBERS, TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS, THE GENERAL PUBLIC, VOLUNTEERS, GUESTS AND SPONSORS. THE FOLLOWING ARE EXAMPLES OF MISCONDUCT NOT ACCEPTABLE TO SCBF MEMBERS AND SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION OR REMOVAL FROM THE CLUB AS DETERMINED BY THE OFFICERS.
- DISPLAY OF ANGER AND DISPLEASURE FOR REASONS RELATED TO FISHING COMPETITION WHERE MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, INCLUDING OTHER ANGLERS, SPECTATORS AND SPONSORS ARE PRESENT.
- PUBLICLY QUESTIONING OR CRITICIZING A TOURNAMENT OFFICIAL, OFFICIAL DECISION, RULING, OR PENALTY EXCEPT THROUGH PROPER CHANNELS.
- PHYSICAL OR VERBAL ABUSE, THREATENING OR SLANDEROUS ACTS TOWARD MEMBERS, TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS, FELLOW COMPETITORS, OR ANYONE CONNECTED WITH A CLUB EVENT.
- HEATED PUBLIC DISAGREEMENTS WITH SCBF OFFICERS OR MEMBERS AND OTHER COMPETITORS DURING AN EVENT.
- OFFENSIVE OR SLANDEROUS COMMENTS WITH RACIAL, CULTURAL, OR SEXUAL OVERTONES REGARDING TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS, OTHER MEMBERS, OR THE GENERAL PUBLIC DURING AN EVENT.
- PUBLIC ATTACKS THROUGH THE MEDIA, INCLUDING SOCIAL MEDIA THAT REFLECTS POORLY ON THE INTEGRITY OF SCBF OR THEIR SPONSORS.
- PUBLIC COMMENTS THAT WILL HARM THE REPUTATION OF THE SCBF CLUB, MEMBERS, SPONSORS, OR ALTERNATES.
- INTENTIONALLY INTERFERING WITH A FELLOW ANGLER'S ABILITY TO COMPETE.
- ANY ACT OF MORAL TURPITUDE WHICH REFLECTS UNFAVORABLY UPON THE CLUB, ITS MEMBERS, OR SPONSORS.
- ANY DISQUALIFICATION, SUSPENSION, OR DISCIPLINARY ACTION IMPOSED BY ANY TOURNAMENT OR FISHING ORGANIZATION WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM COMPETITION AND REMOVAL FROM THE CLUB.
- ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN A CLUB TOURNAMENT THAT BREAKS OR IS TICKETED FOR BREAKING A STATE LAW WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THAT TOURNAMENT.
- NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED IN THE BOAT OR CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL DURING TOURNAMENT HOURS. PENALTY: DISQUALIFICATION
- ALL MEMBERS AND ALTERNATES PARTICIPATING IN SCBF EVENTS SHALL BE REQUIRED TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER THAT DEMONSTRATES INTEGRITY, HONOR, AND RESPECT AT ALL TIMES DURING TOURNAMENT HOURS AND AT ALL CLUB EVENTS, TOWARD FELLOW MEMBERS, TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS, THE GENERAL PUBLIC, VOLUNTEERS, GUESTS AND SPONSORS. POINT SYSTEM
WHY POINTS ARE AWARDED
- POINTS ARE AWARDED TO QUALIFY TO FISH IN THE “SPACE COAST BASS FINATICS CLASSIC”. IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE CLASSIC, A TEAM MUST FINISH IN THE TOP TEN IN TOTAL POINTS AND MUST FISH A MINIMUM OF 6 REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENTS. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO THE TOP 10, A “WILD CARD” TEAM WILL BE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE “CLASSIC”. TO BE ELIGIBLE THE TEAM OR MEMBER OF THE TEAM MUST HAVE FISHED AT LEAST NINE (9) REGULAR TOURNAMENTS AND BE THE HIGHEST PLACING TEAM IN THE FINAL REGULAR TOURNAMENT IN JULY.
- POINTS ARE ALSO AWARDED TO DETERMINE THE “SCBF ANGLERS OF THE YEAR” (THE TEAM WITH THE MOST POINTS FOR THE YEAR).
HOW POINTS ARE AWARDED
- ALL TEAMS START EACH YEAR WITH ZERO (0) POINTS (EACH “YEAR” STARTS WITH THE SEPTEMBER TOURNAMENT).
- THE WINNER OF EACH TOURNAMENT IS AWARDED THIRTY-FIVE (35) POINTS WITH A TWO (2) POINT DIFFERENCE IN THE ORDER OF FINISH FOR POSITIONS TWO (2) THRU FIVE (5).
- POSITIONS SIX (6) AND BELOW WILL HAVE A ONE (1) POINT DIFFERENTIAL.
- THOSE TEAMS THAT FISHED THE TOURNAMENT AND WEIGHED IN NO FISH WILL BE AWARDED FIVE (5) POINTS FOR PARTICIPATING.
- THE TEAM WITH “ BIG BASS” FOR EACH TOURNAMENT WILL BE AWARDED FIVE (5) BONUS POINTS.

- A TIE OF TOTAL WEIGHT AT WEIGH-IN SHALL BE DECIDED BY THE WEIGHT OF THE LARGEST BASS, WHICH SHALL DETERMINE THE RANKING AND POINT ORDER.
- A TIE OF TOURNAMENT CLASSIC POINTS SHALL BE DECIDED BY THE TOTAL WEIGHT OF FISH CAUGHT TO DATE. THIS WILL DETERMINE THE RANKING ORDER ONLY, POINTS WILL NOT CHANGE.
- ALL DISQUALIFICATIONS WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF POINTS FOR THAT TOURNAMENT EXCEPT LATE PENALTY DISQUALIFICATIONS WHO SHALL RETAIN THEIR 5 “SHOW UP” POINTS.

CLASSIC TOURNAMENT
- THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY FEE FOR THE “CLASSIC” TOURNAMENT. THE MONEY THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED FOR THE “CLASSIC” PAY OFF AND “BIG BASS” PURSE WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE OFFICERS, DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT AVAILABLE IN THE CLUB TREASURY. SEE TABLE 3 FOR DISTRIBUTION.
- IF A “CLASSIC” TEAM NEEDS A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE “CLASSIC” TOURNAMENT, THE SUBSTITUTE MUST BE A DUES PAYING CLUB MEMBER.

- THE “TRIPLE CROWN” WINNERS WILL BE AWARDED A PLAQUE NAMING HIM/HER AS SUCH AND FREE MEMBERSHIP THE FOLLOWING YEAR. THIS EXEMPTION DOES NOT COVER TOURNAMENT ENTRY FEES.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
- THERE WILL BE ELEVEN (11) REGULAR TOURNAMENTS PER YEAR, ONE EACH MONTH BEGINNING ON THE LAST SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER.
- ALL TOURNAMENTS WILL BE ON THE LAST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH EXCEPT:
- WHERE IT WILL CONFLICT WITH A HOLIDAY, IN WHICH CASE IT WILL BE HELD THE PRECEDING SUNDAY
- EVENING / NIGHT TOURNAMENTS WHICH WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAYS.
- THE “CLASSIC” WILL BE FISHED ON THE LAST SUNDAY IN AUGUST.

- THE TOP 3 AND THE BIG BASS WINNERS AT EVERY TOURNAMENT ARE ENCOURAGED TO PUBLICLY DISCLOSE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR WINNING PATTERN, LOCATION, TECHNIQUES, DEPTH, WATER TEMPERATURE, LURE COLOR, PRESENTATION, OR WHATEVER ELSE THOSE ANGLERS THINK WAS IMPORTANT ABOUT WHAT THEY DID TO PRODUCE GOOD RESULTS. SHARING OF INFORMATION WILL OCCUR DURING THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS AND DISTRIBUTION OF WINNINGS AT EVERY TOURNAMENT. THERE IS NO PENALTY FOR LYING OR REFUSING TO DIVULGE INFORMATION THOUGH YOU MAY BE SUBJECTED TO PLAYFUL RIDICULE AND HUMILIATION.
