The club arrived at Miami-Garcia impoundment Sunday morning in Fellsmere with 25 teams, to find the lake level slightly down but not bad, the wind had subsided, weather report looking good, mosquitos out in force and the hydrilla and pads growing at a fast rate. I guess SJRWM had not got the word and started spraying yet. The morning check-in went along as usual except for a few stragglers who arrived very late and made the job of the secretary very hard and more confusing than usual. The take-off here has always been difficult but was made even more of a cluster as one boat (Dwayne and Dave) had a motor shut down in the south canal which in turn caused the following boats to change direction and morning plans. Fishing was great, as usual, at Garcia which was reflected in the 24 limits which were weighed in by the competing teams. Only one team did not have the five fish limit which is why this lake is always voted in by the club members more than once.

President Karl, checked that all boats were accounted for and then proceeded with the call for fish precisely at 3 pm with the following results.

Raymond Taylor and his more able alternate, Zack Taylor, crushed the competition with a huge limit weighing 21.95 pounds. Fishing out of his custom 14 foot aluminum boat with 10 or 15 hp motor, he easily bested the field. Their bag was anchored by a huge Garcia bucket mouth weighing 8.17 pounds caught by Raymond using a Zara Spook top water bait. This win propels the team of Clyde and Raymond Taylor into first place with only two tournaments to go.

Second place goes to Dave Tripp and Robert Kimbrough with a very nice limit of 18.85 pounds which was capped off by a 6.02 pound big bass. Dave reported that none of their fish were caught on a spinner bait.

Third place goes to Roger Marek and Aaron Marek who weighed in a nice limit of 17.85 pounds to collect a nice payday and some valuable points for the end of the season.

A special thanks goes out to Larry Cruce who donated a very nice butt seat as a door prize which was won by Alan Elder and his partner Daville Williams. Thanks Larry.

Shawn Mechella, Strike Zone of Melbourne, again donated a $50.00 gift certificate to the club to be drawn for which was won by Mike Hampton and Tim Kopf. Be sure that when you go to Strike Zone you thank Shawn and support the store as much as he supports this club.

The next tournament will be at Blue Cypress Lake on the 27th of June see you there.
