SUNDAY 8-28-22 SAW 10 TEAMS DESCEND ON MIAMI-GARCIA FOR SCBF’s NO ENTRY FEE 2021-22 CLASSIC. THERE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE 11, BUT ONE TEAM WAS A NO SHOW EVEN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THEM FAILED. TO MY KNOWLEDGE, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME A TEAM HAS FAILED TO SHOW AT A CLASSIC AFTER WORKING SO HARD ALL YEAR TO QUALIFY. AFTER BATTLING THE HOARDS OF BLOOD SUCKING MOSQUITOES AT THE RAMP, THE 10 TEAMS TOOK OFF IN THEIR ORDER OF FINISH FOR THE YEAR WITH THE WILD CARD TEAM OF ROGER AVERILL AND WILLIAM SULLIVAN CALLING THE NUMBERS. THE AOY TEAM OF BILL GROESCLOSE AND BRIAN COLE LED THE WAY WITH HOPES OF CONTINUING THIS YEAR’S RUN WITH A WIN.
AFTER FORECASTS OF RAIN ALL MORNING, ONCE AGAIN THE WEATHERMAN WAS WRONG, BUT MOTHER NATURE MADE UP FOR IT STARTING ABOUT NOON WITH RAIN SQUALLS, WIND AND MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF LIGHTENING, SOME OF WHICH WERE WAY TO CLOSE. IN THE END, IT WAS THE TEAM OF ROGER AND AARON MAREK WHO FOUND THE RIGHT QUALITY, TAKING 1ST PLACE WITH 21.96# INCLUDING A 7.63# KICKER BY ROGER. THANKS TO “BIG FISH” AARON FOR LETTING DAD CATCH THE BIG ONE. THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN TOO OFTEN AS IT’S AARON WHO IS USUALLY HOLDING THE BIG BASS. FOR THEIR HARD WORK, THEY COLLECTED $1125 FOR FIRST AND AN ADDITIONAL $200 IN THE CALCUTTA. FOLLOWING CLOSELY IN 2ND PLACE WAS THE TEAM OF CLIFF SEMONSKI AND KEITH BRAUN WITH 19.91# INCLUDING KEITH’S 7.20# SHOT AT BIG BASS OF THE DAY. GOOD BAG GUYS. THEIR EFFORTS WON THEM A COOL $675. NOT BAD FOR A DAY ON THE WATER WITH NO ENTRY FEE. IN THIRD PLACE WITH 18.38# WERE FRED REID AND JOHN KINCHEN WITH A VERY RESPECTABLE 6.17# KICKER BY FRED. THEIR HAUL WAS $450. TAKING 4TH PLACE WITH 17.75# WERE ROB BRANAGH AND JAY STEIN, WHO DELAYED HIS MOVE TO TENNESSEE IN ORDER TO FISH THE CLASSIC. ROB CAPTURED BIG BASS OF THE TOURNAMENT WITH A 7.88# GIANT WHICH WAS WORTH $200 PLUS TWO $50 GIFT CARDS FROM CLUB SPONSOR STRIKE ZONE FISHING OF MELBOURNE. THANK YOU SHAWN MECCHELLA.
ALL RESULTS HAVE BEEN POSTED TO THE CLUB WEBSITE, WWW.SCBF.US, FYI, TONY HAS BEEN AND WILL BE DOING SOME UPGRADING TO THE WEBSITE, SO IF YOU HAVEN’T VISITED IT RECENTLY, YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED WHAT YOU WILL FIND, ESPECIALLY IN THE RECORDS SECTION. TONY HAS AMASSED AN ASTOUNDING AMOUNT OF DATA, THAT IF YOU LOOK, YOU MIGHT FIND SOMETHING THAT WILL HELP YOU ON THE WATER. THANK YOU TONY CIAVARELLA FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY NOT BE A CURRENT CLUB MEMBER…...YOU ARE STILL PART OF THE CLUB.
