The eighth tournament of the season occurred on April 28th on the Miami-Garcia Impoundment.  This was the second time this season we fished at Garcia.  The weather was windy at 15 to 20 MPH mostly out of the east, but temperature was in the high seventies.  Water temperatures were in the mid-70s and stained water conditions.

All teams were able to secure a limit.  One bag was over 20 lbs.  The largest fish of the day was 6.72 lbs. caught by Dwayne Haga.  First Place went to Mike Calloway and Mike Morrison with a bag at 20.5 lbs.  Their big fish was 4.42 lbs.  Second place went to Gary Hinman and Bob Hall with a bag of 19.77 lbs.  Their big fish was 5.74 lbs. Third place went to Don Hinman and Ken Winter with a bag of 17.27 lbs.

Congratulations to all team participants who chose to endure the windy conditions.  The Miami-Garcia Impoundment provides plenty areas to fish that are somewhat blocked by winds.  With zero rain, conditions were comfortable as long as you stayed out of the wind.  Several strategies led to all teams catching their limit.  Most claimed speed worms, trick worms, rattle traps as well as other crankbaits.

Mike and Zander Hampton won the StrikeZone gift cards.  Thank you StrikeZone for the support and long-time sponsorship.  After the tournament, Mike Calloway announced that Zander Hampton has decided to Join the Marine Corps.  Congratulations and thanks go to Zander … Semper Fidelis!

The club also signed a new member to Join Greg Pugesik.  Welcome Cass Castiglioni and much success during the rest of the season. As a reminder, the end of May is the deadline for new members.  There are plenty open spots for new members.  The more the better with larger payouts.

The turnout for this event was 16 boats.  The ninth tournament of the season will be at the Haris Chain of Lakes and we will be launching from Buzzard’s Beach Public Boat Ramp.
