Two of the club teams competed in the first Florida Sate Tournament Championship on the Kissimmee Chain of lakes out of the Big Toho Marina and both turned in respectable finishes. The tournament was dominated by clubs from the Kissimmee area as was expected but the weather did not cooperate as the wind made the lake very tough to navigate. Jack Berry and Jimmy Blount caught fish both days but could not seem to find that one or two big fish to make a ok day into a good day. They managed to bring in a limit of fish both days for a total of 26.88 pounds and finished in 31 place which was good for some very nice fishing glasses for both Jack and Jimmy. Mike Calloway and Cliff Semonski finished in 47 place with 19.79 pounds but had a much harder time of filling their limit and then some. We appreciate all that they have done to promote the club and did their best to show the club can compete against any of the bass clubs in the area. There were 74 teams in the tournament with competitors from Okeechobee to as far north as Palatka and from Tampa to Vero. First place was taken by a team from Kissimmee Extreme club with a total of 48.87 pounds over two days. Big bass for Saturday was 9.94 pounds and Sundays big bass was 8.50 pounds. The complete results can be found at the web site www.fishfstc.com. They hope this will be the first of many years of competition between bass clubs state wide. The tournament sponsors donated many very nice prizes for the captains banquet and for the finishers from 21st to 40th place. The club would like to thank the tournament organizers for putting on a well run and professional event.
