Mike Calloway takes the Big Bass honors at the first Strike Zone of Melbourne tournament on Miami-Garcia Impoundment Saturday, January 4, 2018. Using his own Last Cast punch skirt with a Reaction Innovation kinky beaver, he reported that the big girl came from a reed island with floating lettuce and hyacinths. As usual, he landed the 6.75 pounder with only one hour left in the tournament. The Club was well represented at the 35 boat tournament with most of the top teams being from our Club. Brian Wical and Junior Solis took first place with a whopping 21.80 pounds followed closely by Justin Neal and Mr. Campbell with 20.70 pounds and in fifth place with 16.35 was Karl Kearcher and Jay Stein. Past club member ,Jim Folks got the day started off with check-in and a short safety talk before sending the teams out in an orderly manner. All three of the lake access routes were open for a change which helped greatly. A big" thank you" goes out to Shawn Mechelia, who has provided the way for this bass fishing tournament to continue and be successful.
